Davies’ award-winning short
stories have also appeared in The
Paris Review, Story and others.

For the last five years,
Davies taught creative writing
at Emory University in Atlanta

reviewer said in an issue of ELLE
magazine.
Davies is currently working on
writing a novel, but he said the
process has been a slow one.

He enjoys teaching
because it offers the

“I enjoy teaching in

Delphina to host Nexus fashion show
SNAP
By Tammy Salman

On Valentine’s Day, Delphina cloth
ing store of Eugene plans to host a Car
nival of Love at the Nexus Club on
Willamette Street.
The carnival will feature a fashion
show as well as belly dancers, a kissing
booth and free champagne.
Delphina, Oriana and Antrican are
providing the clothes — which will in
clude everything from tight, vinyl dress
es to more casual wear — and models
for the fashion show.
Other activities planned for the
evening include door prizes, fire jug
gling and a human petting zoo, some
thing one organizer says can’t be ex
plained because “you just have to see it
in person.”
The doors open at 9 p.m., and tickets
purchased in advance from participat
ing stores cost $5 per person or $8 per
couple. Tickets purchased at the door
run $7 per person or $10 per couple.
Carnival organizers hope to have a
large turnout on Saturday so they can
sponsor more events in the future.
