Fight: Student attempts to escape

tioned, O'Shaughnessy began to act aggressively to
ward the OPS officer, at which time the officer con
tacted the Eugene police department to issue a cita
tion for minor in possession of alcohol.
After the OPS officer informed him of the violation
and his $150 bail, O’Shaughnessy attempted to get
away. The officer grabbed O’Shaughnessy by the
arm, with the student then turning around to attack
the officer, according to the report.
The two wrestled for several minutes before the of
ficer was able to gain control. The officer told the
man to stay on the ground. O’Shaughnessy attempt
ed to get up, at which point the officer sprayed him
with pepper spray.
O'Shaughnessy was detained and taken by Eugene
police officers to the Lane County Adult Corrections
facility shortly after, the report said. He was charged
with assault, harassment and minor in possession of
alcohol. Bail was set at $405.
O'Shaughnessy could not be contacted Sunday,
and his companion did not want to comment on the
incident.

Fraternity fight leads
to injuries, gunshot
A fight at the Phi Delta Theta
fraternity early Saturday morning
led to two people being injured
and one gunshot being fired, ac
cording to a police report.
At 12:02 a.m. Saturday, Eu
gene police arrived at the frater
nity, located at 1472 Kincaid St.,
to investigate a fight involving
approximately 20 people.
The report stated the fight be
gan when six to 10 uninvited
people arrived at the house.
A security guard hired by the
fraternity asked the group to
leave, at which point one of the
subjects produced a handgun.
The subject then struck a mem
ber of the fraternity in the face,
causing the gun to discharge. No
one was hit by the gunshot.
During the fight, a security
guard severely cut his arm when
he fell into a window. He and the
fraternity member who was struck
were treated and released from Sa
cred Heart Medical Center.
