7" ou pay thousands of dollars per year
and probably put yourself into a great
-L deal of debt for the privilege of call
ing yourself a student. You might as well
take advantage of the perks.
One of the lesser-known perks available
on campus is the opportunity to see a movie
at the EMU Cultural Forum’s Film Series.
Where else can you catch a film on the big
screen for only $2 on a Friday night?
The Film Forum runs a series of about ten
films each term. The schedule usually has
an emphasis on foreign films, independent
efforts and cult classics. The films, shown
in Room 180 PLC, are generally shown on
Friday nights at 8 p.m.
This weekend, the Film Forum has a full
menu of events planned, including the con
clusion of the Fifth Annual University of
Oregon Queer Film Festival.
Tonight the winners of the festival’s Film
and Video Competition will present their
films at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday night, the
film When Night Is Falling will run at 7:30
and 9:30 p.m.
The festival will end Sunday when Acad
emy Award-winning director Debra Chas
noff presents It’s Elementary at 7:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 for general admission and
$4 for students.
The Film Forum has three films left on its
regular schedule this term, plus one special
presentation. On Saturday, the cult classic
The Rocky Horror Picture Show will be
shown at midnight. A pre-show presenta
tion featuring local Rocky Horror cast For
bidden Fruit will begin at 11 p.m.
The show will take place in 150 Colum
bia and will cost $5 for general admission
and $4 for students. Filmgoers who show
up in costume will receive a $1 discount.
The Cultural Forum’s Film Series is a
great way to see some interesting films that
you otherwise wouldn’t have the chance to
see on the big screen anymore.
The Film Forum is run by students, so the
selections each term are usually all worth
while films that students will enjoy.
