University proposes new computer center The University has proposed a state-wide computing center in Portland that would coordinate the Computer Science programs at the University, Oregon State University and Portland State University. The three universities would still provide courses on their re spective campuses. However, the new school would raise the Uni versity’s visibility in the Portland area, University officials said. Reasons behind the proposed change include the need for more computer science, computer engi neering and software engineering graduates in Oregon and for better continuing education and train ing for current employees and high-tech firms.
