enter the Civil War 1-9 after ini
tially aspiring for their first win
ning season in 25 years
The Beavers entered the sea
son facing a favorable schedule
and boasting a strong defense that
had their fans and football
experts alike thinking that Pet
tibnno had finally put all the
pieces of the program together
"Our expectations were to have
the first winning season in 25
years," Pettibone said, adding
tiiat the season's outcome has hit
close to home. “We’re very dis
appointed, but we continue to
work hard "
Despite their record, the
Beavers' defense has pulled its
weight this season It ranks sec
ond in total defense in the Pacif
ic-10 Conference and is the No.
14 total defense in the nation.
