FOOTBALL
OREGON VS WASHINGTON STATE
The offensive line of the defending Pac-10 Champions has protected the players of the bitckfieid all season, allowing them to post outstanding numbers in the first six
games

and instinct to be on the line

weren't for these massive men in
white, yellow and green, howev
er. Whittle and anyone eke who
dared take a place in the back
field would Ini squashed.
"Our job is basically to perform
our blocking duties and push the
defenders back," Wiggins said.
"Playing on the offensive line,
you know you’re not in the pub
lic’s eye, but the coaching staff
and our teammates know what
we do.”
Wiggins takes his part of the
game very seriously because he
knows that if he and the other
linemen make a mistake it direct
ly affects the team.
"If we aren't doing well, that
means the offense isn’t doing
well," Wiggins said. "1 believe
that we're the focal point because
of whut our job means to the
offense.”
To play defense, everyone
knows that you have to have a so
called "killer instinct." but what
type of mentality does a member
of the offensive line need to have?
"On defense, its like you have
no real assignment," Wiggins
said. "But on offense you have to

be patient — you just can't peel
back your oars and go."
Although Wiggins said ha has
to be patient as a lineman, he
added that the killer instinct is
still there.
"When I push a defender Iwrck
and knock a guy down, that's
when I get some personal satis
faction,” Wiggins said.
Wiggins is looking forward to
what the Ducks' future could
hold this season, but he admits
that the team must take one game
at a time.
"I wish I had a crystal ball so
I could tell you fthe outcome!,
Wiggins said. "Hut really, we just
have to prepare each week and
get up for it.”

DESIGNATED DRIVERS
ARE THE LIFE OF THE
PARTY.
Every 30 minutes a person in the U.S. dies as a result of an alcohol
related crash. Project Eugene is dedicated to fighting drunken driv
ing and illegal use of alcohol by minors. We need your help. When
you go out to celebrate, designate a non-drinking driver. Several
bars and restaurants offer special incentives for designated drivers.
