The l)u< ks (4-1 overall. 1-t

against Pacific-10 Conference
opponents starting with the
Golden Bears, a team that has
given the Out ks some trouble
in the past.
"I really look at it as a second
season for us beginning this
week, because we play six con
secutive league games now.
three at home and three on the
road." head coach Mike Hellotli
said. "I think that there is a
pretty good resolve and under
standing of what we need to do.
of plnving one game at a time,
of respecting your opponent
and of understanding that the
Pac-10 is the Pac-10
"And that means automati
cally. every game that there is
no load that is big enough and
you are never out of a game.
Hut the set ond season begins
Saturday."
The Ducks know very well
the unpredictability of Pac-10
play, with one of the biggest
lessons they have learned com

two years ago and blew a 30

Beilotti said, adding that the

Oregon has suffered several
injuries that could play major
roles in the Ducks' performance
on Saturday Sophomore ku kor
Matt Balden is still out with an
injury to his right leg. and
sophomore fulltmi k A J {elks
is still unavailable because of a
fractured left foot Senior
defensive end Troy Bailey is
also sidelined with a bruised

In addition, the Ducks had
three key players who were suf

that kept them out of practice
earlier this week in senior tail
back Hit ky Whittle, senior cor
nerbac k Ales Molded and
junior cornerbock I.aMont
Woods
"I don't think our health is
great." Beilotti said, adding that
Whittle. Molden and Woods
would play against California
"VVe still have an extensive
injured list thut is longer than 1

Coming off of a 45-7 win over
