in the NCAA tournament
While the men are shining up
their dancing shoes for tlieir short
jaunt to Salt Lake City, the
women are preparing to wear
down the tread on their Nikes as
the team's first round matchup is
in Athens. Ga.
The women will Ire making
their second consecutive trip to
the tournament, and their fifth
appe.trniu e in t .i years, is the No
tr seed in tlie Midwest bracket
Oregon's opening round fen’s will
be the 11th seeded Louisville
Cardinals on March 17.
To get into the tournament, the
Ducks had to complete an almost
impassible mission With six
games left on the schedule. Ore
gon needed to pick up five vie •
tones in its remaining games
against the likes of Arizona Stale.
Arizona, Stanford and Southern
California — teams the Ducks
had previously lost to earlier in
the season.
The Ducks started their run for
a Irerth to the tournament during
the last weekend of February,
with revenge blowouts of the Ari
zona schools. Oregon's combined
margin of victory against the vis
iting schools was an outstanding

sition under a 50-point average
per game (49.5).
