Only a day after the Oregon football team
filled its empty offensive coordinator posi
tion, it lost another coach to the NR when
the los Angeles Rams announced John Ranis
dell will bo the team's offensive assistant for
quality < ontrol
The Rams also announcod on Thursday that
former Oregon cornerfwick Steve Brown, who
also played with the Houston Oilers from
1983 to would i>e the team's defensive
assistant for quality control. The two hirings
made head coach Rich Brooks' staff c omplete
Ramsdell. who has been the Ducks'
receivers coach for the last 12 years, bee arne
the third dragon 1 oach to be hired by the
Rams after Brooks resigned as Oregon head
coac h to take the job with the Rams Former
Duck defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti was
hired ns the Rams safeties coach and Steve
Great wood, the Ducks' former offensive line
coac h, was named the tight ends and offen
sive line coach for the Ni l team two weeks

Barry leads Beavers

CORVALLIS, Ore. (AP) - Brent Barry scored n
career-high 33 points Thursday night as Oregon State
snapped a six-game losing streak by stunning 2()th
ranked Stanford 90-71
The Beavers (a 11 I’m 10, 6-18 overall) led by
as many as 20 points in the first half and were up
48-32 at halftime. Stanford (8-7, 17-7) never got
closer than 11 in the second half
Mustapha Hoff added 15 points for Oregon State,
which handed Stanford its most one-sided loss of
the season. Vladimir Heredia and Rob Williams
added 10 points apiece for the Beavers
Brovin Knight was the only Stanford player who
was a consistent threat on offense against Oregon
State's zone defense, finishing with 28 points Tim
Young added 13 points
Dion Cross scored just seven for the Cardinal on
2-for 12 shooting from the field. He's averaging 18
points per game.
Barry, son of former NBA great Rii k Barry, had
19 points by halftime of his next-to-last home
game, including throe spectacular stuffs in a 3
minuto. 9-second stretch.
Oregon State put the game away with a 12-0 run
that made it 82-59 with 4 50 to plav.
Stanford had 21 turnovers in the contest The
