l would advise you to roam
beyond the hallowed boundaries
of University land (that fairy-tale

and expand your mind to the true
character of Kugene
For one. try talking to those
“locals”; they aren't too far off
base (they do know where
parental money is. and parental
money is easier to gather than
actual earned money).
One other small note Be sure
to inform those incoming stu

than many, many others, even in
those so-called i ramped rooms
Heaven forbid they have to get

Group valuable
Last year ns a senior in high
school I was excited alxiut all the
options that lay open to me on
my pursuit for higher education
As a member of a graduating class
of 100 students at a small pub
lii school in Maine I was anxious
to broaden my view of this coun
try. I chose the University of Ore
gon because I believed I would
find the cultural diversity that I
desired.
Last week I read an article in
the Oregon Doily Emerald that
made me question the decision t
made "Pro-Choice May hose
Funding" [OI)E, fan. 1H) was not
only a title that made my stom
ach wrench hut an idea that
frightens me Our school is sup
posed to be a "marketplace of
ideas." and by ceasing to fund u
particular organization that
makes up an active part of this
marketplace. I feel like my expe
rience here is lieing jeopardized
"Take Bac k the Night" is just
one of the many events that
Students for Choice supports as
well as partakes. This is a vital
step in the strive for the equal)
(V and safety of women here
end all around this country
Last vi'iir Studmlii for Choice
made a tremendous effort in
laving the groundwork for a
highly successful "Take Hack
thp Night" event It worries me
that their valuable participation
could be absent at this year's
event
Another important event that
Students for Choir e is at tive in
is the annual International
Women's Day celebration This
year a full week of education,
entertainment, rxnfts and support
has been planned. This is a very
important week to women all
over the world It is events like
these that i reate the "marketplace
of ideas" that our University is so
proud to claim
Without the participation
from Students for Choice. < or
tain voiles will not be rep re
wilted rhit organization is vital
to the diversity of this i arnpus
I hope that other students agree
with me and will help to pre
serve the existence of such an
important group

After clawing and scratching
my wav through his Tuesday i ol

unfounded arguments, two ques

The first is simply "Brian, do

ed Bob [Jritz, Whitebird Dental
clinic coordinator, as saying he
expected to serve 2,(Hit) patients
in 4,tXM3 visits for the first year of
operation. These are figures for
Lane County alone
Extrapolating a bit yields, uh,
a little more dental, not to men

".. not even that big of percent

There are mom concrete figures
available for the number of Amer

burdening Womack with addi
