Williams had just four attempts in the first half
and had barely touched the ball in the second half
prior to his shooting barrage in the last seven min
utes.
"It gets reullv frustrating," Williams said about
the lack of scoring chances due to Washington's
defense. "I just have to stay focused.''
In the first half, the Ducks were unable to
match the intensity of the Huskies (5-0. 1-5) Ore
gon was further hindered by an uncharacteristic
15 turnovers, while trailing by as many as nine
points in the opening half.

SEATTLE (AP) - If Saturday - 92 83
victory over Washington was any indi
cation. being a nationally-ranked team
and o blossoming conference power is
going to be an up hill battle for the Ore
gon Ducks.
The Ducks know that every game,
especially road games, is going to be
rough Hut c arrying a national ranking
at their side, and the prospec t of an
upper-division finish in the Pen-10, pro
vides all the more incentive for teams to
play above and beyond their level
against lurry Green's Ducks.
The game with the Huskies proved to
b«* a must-win situation in terms of keep
ing the? respect that the Ducks hod earned
up to that point, and to stay on course
for one of the most successful seasons
ever at Oregon.
The Huskies were in no mood to roil
over and play dead, though, as the
Huskies gave the Ducks all they could
handle, and then some
"They came out and got after it
that’s the bottom line," Oregon guard
Orlando Williams said. "I think they
prepared well for us.”

It has been 18 years since tho Ducks

said he believes that being in the nation
al spotlight, and everything that goes
along with it. takes some getting used to.
"Probably we don't know how to act

it's just as big of a problem to stay

served as a wakeup call heading into this
weekend's clash with the always-iethal

Williams said he thinks this year's
competitive edge the Ducks have late
in games (such as on Saturday) comes
from a more experienced team, which
has learned from last year's mistake*.
"We toll like w»- played good ball for
maybe 38 minutes lust year,” William*
said, “and we'd come out in the last
two minutes and etui up losing by 10
