One key to a winning a game
is to keep the other team front
playing its type of game The
Oregon women's basketball
team played that strategy to a tee
Friday night, handing 21st
rankod Oregon State its second
straight loss and frustrating the
Heavers in the process
The Ducks played slowly and
methodically the whole game,
and let the Heavers eventually
foul themselves out of the game
"It is always a tough game for
us," Oregon head coach Jodv
Rungu said of the Civil War
game. “They got in foul trouble,
and 1 thought our kids did a
really good Job of putting the
(mil on the floor and drawing the
fouls."
Sophomore forward Arianne
Boyer blew past Oregon State,
corning up with several key bas
kets en route to a 17-point, five
rebound performance in the Civ
il War matchup. Boyer had 10 ol
her 17 points in the second half,
ns the Ducks pulled away from
the Heavers after a narrow 3(1-31
lend at halftime.
"We did smart things down
the stretch," Boyer said. "We
just came in, played really hard,
and tried to beat them And we
did.
"We just wanted to play our
game and try to keep the tempo
slower and handle the pressure
well," she said.

Going into Friday night's meet
with Wisconsin, the Oregon
wrestling team knew that it was
in for a battle After all. the Bad
gers had just beaten Oregon
State, a team that the Ducks lost
to in December, handily.
That battle ended in a U5-3
win for Wisconsin, but the tale
goes beyond just the score of the
game Wisconsin, ranked 21st
coming into the meet, has a style
that, according to Oregon coach
Ron Finley, clashed with the
Ducks' style and threw the team
off.
"The biggest problem we had
all the way along was clashing
styles,” Finley said "We came
out on the short end of it.”
Although meeting a top
ranked team like Wisconsin has
its obvious disadvantages, Kin
ley said that wrestling teams
from other areas and with differ
ent styles is essential in a team's
success.
