again puts on its annual Independence Day program at Autzen Stadium Now
m its 48th year, the show is promises the largest fireworks show m the area
Parking lots and food vendors at Autzen will open at 4 p m Beginning at 5
pm, the Stadium Ptaza area (near Gate E) wifi host activities mcfcxkng line
dance instruction and horse-drawn hay wagon ndes The Plaza also wilt offer
balloons, a bounce machine and a human gyroscope
At 7 pm. the stadium itself wt8 open (at Gate E) The Eugene Symphonic
Band wiH begin a program of patriotic tunes and marches at 7 30. which will
be followed at 8 30 by a program sponsored by the racfco station New Country

Fireworks begin a! dusk (around 9 30), and are expected to last approxi
mately 20 minutes

Another July 4 tradition — now m its 21st year -- the Butte to Butte Run is
the oldest and largest road race in Eugene. The race route stretches 10 kilo
meters Irom the toot of Spencer Butte at 43rd Avenue and Donald Street to
Skinner Butte Park next to the Willamette River The Mayor s Walk wiii occur
simultaneously, and follows a slightly different route

consider the 4th annual parade m Cottage Grove, a few minutes south ol

The parade will begin at 1 p m at the comer ol Mam Street and River
Road, and wiH continue along Mam Street to Comer Park at 15th Street At the
park, there will be an old-fashioned Fourth ol July picnic, featuring food and
craft booths, a few words trom local notables, and live entertainment from the
Cottage Grove Theater Group, a 70-member Fourth of Jufy Choir, the Tom
Waters Band, singer Charlene Schneider and Glenn Wagner and Ha Fnends

replaced by John T. Moseley,
who had been serving as the
University's vice president for

ties at the University.
