fint> print always has something like "Trent
Re/nor is Nine Inch Nails "
In Nine Inch Nails concerts, no fine print is
needed: possible ego trips aside, Trent Roznor is
Nine Inch Nails.
After all. that is why NIN is more often referred
to as a "project” than a "band Roznor does
much of the mixing but does all of the songwrit
ing and is the show.
Reznor showed this off April 21 at La Lima, a
date that sold out within a couple of hours after
tickets went on sale in March And the crowd
showed why the concert sold out so fast
Those lucky enough to be 21 years old (not
many, by the looks of the high school-dominated
ticketholders) sought refuge in the bar area from
the physical, moshing fans, who took the entire
floor to wreak havoc in the small venue.
Hut this was the magic of the show. No matter
where you won*. NIN was in plain s»«ht. Iho
music wm loud and clear and the effw t was per
fed
Keznor. typically portrayed as a gloomy,
depressed musician, looked anything but.
destroying several mu rophones and nearly doing
the same to keyboards and his band-mates,
whom hi* attacked during several more energetn
moments

In the fans' eyes. Keznor was OK. too NIN belt
ed out must of its popular material from its first
album. Pretty Hate Machine, delighting those
who may have been turned off by the loss-catchy
Downward Spiral and heavier Broken But those
were there, too. as NIN played new favorite "Mr
Self Instruct" and the head-banger "Wish."
