Men’s track off to relays

The Oregon men's trm l. tt*.im
doesn't have ,1 dual meet this
weekend, so it’s taking a vacation
Sort of.
Members of the Oregon team
will compete at the Drake Relays
in Des Moines. Iowa, and it the
Penn Relays in Philadelphia, on
Friday and Saturday
Head coach Bill Dellinger and
ll Oregon athletes are in Des
Moines The Drake Relays, like
its counterpart in Philadelphia,
features more than trm k events
Dan Zorich (discus, hammer).
Dusty Carlson (hammer, shot put)
Ray Livingston (pole vault) and
Jemmy Williams (pole vault) are
among the Ducks scheduled to
compete.
AM six of Oregon's NCAA pro
visional qualifiers are in Des
Moines Zorich, Carlson and Liv
ingston are joined by Oregon's
three qualifiers in the distance
events. Gordon Johnson (1.500
meters). Scott Nicholas (1,500)
and Karl keska (5.000) are sched
uled to compete.
Oregon's distance crew will
concentrate on two relays The
three NCAA provisional quali
fiers are expected to join Rick
Cantwell for what should t>o a for
midable 4x1 .fiOO-meter relay
team. The Ducks also have a team
entered in the distance medley
relay, where intermediate hur
dler Sol Sallos will team-up with
Johnson. Nicolas and Cantwell.
The Duck sprinters, along with
high jumper Eric White and triple
jumper Todd Bleakney, will be
in Philadelphia. Eric Trice.
DeWayne Ingram. LaVon Pierce
and Patrick Khoo will run in the
4x100 and 4x200 events The

Women head east for Drake Relays

I hirteen members of the the Oregon women's
trai k team will travel east this weekend for the
Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa
The Dunks are coming off a third plane finish at
last weekend's Pepsi Team Invitational It was the
first time in seven years Oregon did not finish first
at the four-team meet Despite that, head ( oach

Blair and Glusac have both re.u hed provisional
qualifying times for the N< AA meet Glusm in the
1.000 and 5,000 and Blair in the 100-lneter hur
dle-. The two will compete on the same relay
team, the distance relay, with Thomas and (ihristie
Kngesser
Blair vy ill also compete in the high jump, long
jump and javelin All that, however depends on
how we11 she recovers from a sprained foot she
suffered last weekend.
In other events. Oregon will have Sara Him ell in
the triple pimp, fom Wareham in the 5,000, Glusac
in the 1.500, Kngesser in the H00 and Amo Olson
in the high jump
The Ducks will return home m \t weekend for a
meet with Boise State and Nevada-I.as Vegas
