the budget request to students failed
The largest restructuring change of the Women's
Center budget is in administration The budget
request eliminates the current position of an
administrative adviser and replaces it with a direi
tor Rodgers said that a director will have more
authority than an adviser, whose duty is simply to
advise rather than delegate authority.
The Women's Center Restruc luring Committee
intends to initiate a nationwide search for a pro
fessional and experienced director. Rodgers
expressed concern about the success of finding
such a direi tor when funding has yet to be
secured
Other ini reuses include the creation of several
paid student positions in the office Restructuring
representative Rain Sussman said, "We really
wanted to create positions for students that would
give them more leadership opportunities."
Twain suggested that these student positions

The Restructuring Committee also hopes to he
granted funds which can be used for general sup
port groups, one example would be a support
group for women of color

to provide child cere for its events which often
take place in the evening. Sussman said that some
women are not able to participate in events on
campus because there are no facilities for child
care available to them in the evenings.
