Whitewater rippling
Clintons’ reputation
Tho Whitewater fiasco that is floating the Clintons
through turbulent waters is marring the president's rep
utation beyond repair.
The accusations are simple, but the case is compli
i ated. What began with the purchase of 230 a< res along
the White River in Northern Arkansas has resulted in
possibly the biggest misfortune in (Minton's political
career.
"It's an investment 1 made 15 years ago that lost mon
ey instead of made money bei arise the property market
turned around at home,” Hill (Minton said. "It's a sim
ple. straightforward thing, and it will be shown."
II it were so simple, then there would be nothing to
unveil and nothing to t ause sm h an interest in invest
ments the (Mintons made lr> years ago And it seems that
every attempt by the (Mintons to unveil and cooperate
resuits in another trip-up that makes the investment .seem
like more than simply a loss of money
Although the exact involvement and the extent of the
(Mintons' knowludge in the project remains.uncertain,
the whole scheme is different than-most. Granted, many
things m the (Minton administration are different than
most I’lie (Mintons seem to have a < lose-kmt relationship
yvith many of the people yyith whom they am involved.
Their recruitment of various members of their politii al
assemblage srrems to have roots that extend bey ond a pro
