authoritative position, whether

I wonder how many of those
women were flattered, and oth
ers angry by reactions of Pack
wood, or the lack of such rear ■
lions.
Twenty years ago would have
been a good time for these "vic
tims” to speak up. You can't tell
me they were all meek little
latiies; they were achievers, hard
workers — aggressive
This lack of respect for gov
ernment is not going to help our
country.
There are no perfect or lily
white men or women. Not one.
I refuse to read or listen to any
more degrading stories about
Pack wood I'm not hiding my
head in the sand. I'm only say
ing that I've fieri enough
Let Packwood get back to his
job If he offends someone that
person should deal with it like
an adult Go to that person —
not to the media And do it that
very day. not 20 sears later

of the University campus. we
have given wav to common ini
ism. Emblazoned in neon and
on large plastic banners, we are
suffering a visual onslaught —
artifacts wav too big and bright
as testimony University of
TncoTime
I doubt that during the so
c ailed due proc ess of planning
that anyone seriously consid
ered the damage and dangerous
precedent that this ugh and
inappropriate signage i onvevs
Aside from the issue of whether
we deserve to conveniently bus
this stomach fodder we do not
need these large signs People
are already programmed The
EMU board and University Plan
ning offic es are derelic t if thee
allow these signs to remain Oth
er corporate enterprises are
expected to conform to the
neighborhoods they inhabit.
I hope people who promote
this enterprise realize that our
society is already programmed
io salivate Small, disc reet sig
nage is sufficient
This onslaught contributes to
the deadening of our senses in a
plac e where our c ulture hopes
to awaken our minds and sens
es Perhaps the academic: enter
prises ought to follow suit If
every campus enterprise wore to
employ similar signs, we could
have cc glitzy campus, expressing
what higher education has
become big business
