LETTERS Men/boys i o the men/bovs playing foot ball at ihf South Eugene High School field Tuesday morning I am writing to wi that im son and I (and probably the seven other families that live in this building) did not appreciate your waking us up at t> tr> a m today with your veiling, grunting, cheering and "whoop-whooping" in the field behind our Amazon apartment I admit I am not n real morning person 1 wake up slowly usu ally over a cup of coffee and National Public Radio. When I am rudely awakened by guys veiling and slapping each other "high-fives” outside of rtiv bed room window at f>:35 a m . yes. I become cranky! While I am sure playing foot ball in the rain and the dark with your buddies can be great fun. if you must continue with this early-morning male-bonding rit ual, please show some consid eration and look for a more appropriate playing field Young children and student parents need their sleep ! need a few moments of peace and qui et before mv day begins Whoev er you are. guys, give us a break Find a new field! The letters to the editor con tained rebuttals to the narrow minded scope of some budding journalist One rebuttal in par ticular discussed the many choic es involved with sexualitv: ga\. lesbian or bisexual It reminded me of Burger King "Have it your way!" Oh yes. heterosexu ality was also mentioned as one of life's many selections. A cou ple of other similar letters on the subject of sexual orientation rounded out the editorial page On the next page I read about a woman who posed as a man bec ause she was a man trapped in a woman's bods Interesting, yes, but what is the point? I mean, who really < art's' The sto ry belongs in the tabloids fight along side the Martian bain story1 Is this narrow minded editori alizing the limit of com ern we have for our fellow man ' lust this past weekend an eight-year-old boy was wounded in a drive In shooting, right here in the Eugene Springfield area' Surely the issue of sot ml violent e is as important as sexual orientation Even the California football team paid tribute to Polly Maas. What tint's that random at t of violence say about our sot letv? Better vet. what does that say about our University new spaper, that this social injustice goes unnoticed?
