ODE UNIVERSITY IFC rule elicits shouting match By Edward Klopfanstein -Z » I rTXHAid A request by a newly recognized group to In* considered in the upcoming budget pro ess Mon day mgbt brought members of the incidental f ee Committee into a shouting match on on IR.' rub I'm n first year MBA student said Jeff Stuart of the Entrepreneurs Club. "Under rule number H we w ill not get any funding until one vear after I graduate My purpose fur t onung hen* today is to ask the committee to revisit rule number M The rule, designed to prolix t student fees Ixnng allocated to new organizations lacking student support, makes most new t.lubs ineligible for IR funds for almost two years after they are recog nized by the ASUO and IK . "Resolution H makes it difficult for new i tubs to get started." said Stuart, who requested Monday night that the Entrepreneur Club be allowed to par tic ipate in the coming budget session and lie con sidered for next year's funds Jen Liu. IFC chairman, said the rule's original intent was to protect student funds. Under IFC rules, a new c lub may request funding one year after they submitted their statement of purpose to the IFC and had been recognized by the ASUO. With funds issued one year after budget hearings are held, new student groups need at least two years lead time tie (ore they get their own ILX1 fund ed sin don I an ount. Liu interpreted the rule as prohibiting funding for both spc ial and general budget requests According to other IFC members, the rule doesn't liar t onsiderations for spin ial requests Additional members said the IFC should lx* able to override rules m spe< ial i inti instant es We i an override rules if we want to," said Committee Member Preston Cannon "With spe t ial requests, we can do it Ms purpose was to point out the rule." said Liu "I'm not necessarily saving yea' or nen' I'm pist trying to point out this rule '' Committee Member |oey Lions disagreed. It seems useless to have a resolution when we t an ignore it when we want to." he said 1 rallies Neo. finance coordinator for the ASUO and the ASUO representative at the meeting, reminded the committee that they serve students "You don't need to apply 14 all the way around." But Committee Member Shannon Wall para phrased the committee's final dot ision when she told the Entrepreneur Club that she won’t consid er the club's budget when she already told two oth er groups no because of rule number 14. The club's request to lie added for budget con siderations died for a lack of a motion. painting SOPPUES PAINT THINNER SALE LOW ODOR QUART...S 1.98 NO ODOR QUART...$3.49 OTHEB SUIT ALSO ON (All B I G WINTER O C ^SELECTED BRUSHES osiiue*CMi»o*tN«o»ouiiM/wi«K>»»NtwtON«*i»iiioM MtM W■ ■ GmjMAACHCtaraTKifTn/uQuiHxiotiNWvnui GESSO...$ 16.95/GALLON tCONOMYMANO «*g f21 7i 15o»DRAWIN6 TUBES MAYLINES: 42"...$69.95 ALL SIZES 15% OFF LIST EVERYDAY PRECUT GREEN/WHITE B0RC0,31 x42...$ 16.95 Q332IEI32IiB # *% 70 Canson 9x 12 Deerfield Sketch Pad f y«l # of Strathmore 9X12 Premium Recycled Sketch Pad ^ JF "|TA Strathmore 18x24 Recycled Sketch Pad ^ 9 • # #Of Canson 18x24 Recycled Drawing Pad 23x26 CUPBOARD...$6.95 with i ox/*> Kecycica Newsprint Pad: J | Q ^ j ro FIRST 50 CUSTOMERS with t vi &Y $ i o oo ruec H AST REGON DUCK SQUIIZIBOTTII or OREGON TUMBLER OPEN EVENINGS & WEEKENDS!
