Another Canoe resident slot a note through the
door that said. "Please he (juiot We are studying
lor our finals I liank you " After a burst of laugh
ter. the note was sent hai k through the door, and
the noise continued
"We don’t do work at the basketball courts; they
should res pin t our space." freshman Ryan Mots k
aly said
John Raymond, Canoe's resident assistant, took
up the issue with Bean Resident Director Linda
Maize I
"University Housing should offer an environ
ment that is more conducive to academic study."
Raymond said
Maizol agreed
"We have gotten u commitment that catering
will no longer use Canoe lounge," Maizol said
"They will switt h to the Henderson hack lounge
after their next road trip."
The next road trip is Dec 12; therefore, the
nightly dinners will continue in Canoe lounge
through finals Week.
After the road trip, however, the team will be
moving to the Henderson hat h lounge. Maizel said
the lounge is almost never used by Henderson res
idents and she hopes that the use of the lounge
will not cause any major problems
"We want to make sure that all small lounges are
available for student use," Maizel said
The halls with small lounges are (,anoe. DeBusk,
Parsons and Thornton.
The switching of lounges could cause a few
problems Vanderpool said the i ustodians will
have more cleaning to do because the Henderson
back lounge is carpeted. Also, Canoe is connect
ed to the catering area, meaning the necessary
equipment is readily available.
"The equipment can't just lie moved out." Van
derpool said. However, she believes catering will
lx; able to manage fairly well.
Canoe residents ant happy that the team will be
eating in a different lounge
"Now. 1 just always study in m\ room. When
the\ leave, 1 will be able to study in the lounge
again," one Canoe resident said.
Ronnie Thompson, assistant coach of the men's
basketball team, was contacted for tins stor\ He
did not respond to phone messages left for him.
