Citizens critical of LTD proposal

College students, staff and admin
istration and downtown business
owners at a public hearing
Wednesday night.
At the hearing, which was
called to illic it comments about
the Draft Environmental Impact
Statement prior to making a
dec ision about changing the site,

testimony expressed concerns
about the availability of parking
if the proposed 17fi parking
spaces near the Me Donald

the Eugene Station to the

this city want to eliminate the
most-used city parking lot?"

ryl's Custom Framing and Por

50 to HO percent loss in sales if
the parking lot is closed

to applause from the 65-member
audience.

Several students of the LCC
downtown c enter testified that

would force them to reconsider
continuing their education
because of the difficulty in
arranging work and class sched
ules around a bus schedule.

the Olive Plaza retirement center
also expressed concerns about
parking availability for them
selves and their visitors II the
LTD Hoard of Directors chooses
the McDonald site for the new
Eugene Station, it will not only

exhaust and noise in the area.
"Please consider letting the
Olive Plaza residents know how
you're going to handle air pol
lution, the noise anti the safety
issues," saitl Margie Smith. Pres
ident of the Olive Plaza Board, to
