Men’s tennis aces foes in Hawaii
The Oregon men's tennis team is bark in the
continental United States, but not before picking
up a pair of wins in Hawaii last weekend.
The Ducks shut out Hawaii Pacific 7-0 Thursday
before picking up a 6.5-0.5 win over Chaminade
Friday Oregon split four games in the Aloha State

The Ducks had little problem with either Hawaii
Pacific or Chaminade. w inning all but one set Lee
Kirner played No. 1 for the Ducks, and after w in
ning by default in his first match. Kirner breezed
past Chaminade s Chris Makrud 6-0. 6-1
Josh Pragor, Oregon's No. 2 player in both
matches, got a tough test from Hawaii Pacific s
Matthias Buehl before winning 6-4, 7-5 It didn't
get any easier for Prnger against Chaminade, but he
prevailed over Chad Cooley. 7-6. 6-3.
Christian Oelko beat Hawaii Pacific’s Luca
Ceceatrelli. 6-2. 6-3. before disposing of Chami
nade’s Takashi Kawachi. 6 0. 6-3 Oregon's biggest
winner was |«ff Strong, who combined to beat his
two opponents 24-1 in four sets Strong beat Hawaii
Pacific's Anders Bar kstrand 6-1. 6-0. before I real
mg Ray Carvalho of Chaminade 6-0, 6-0.
Mike Goldstein also swept bis two matches, and
Matt Cobo beat Hawaii Pacific's Kevin l^eong 6-1,
6-3. before tying Chaminade's Danny Vu. 7-6, 3-6,
In doubles action. Kirner and Oelke. Oregon’s
No 1 team, and Prager and Cobo. Oregon's No. 2
team, both bent their Hawaii Pac ifit opponents 8
1 and their Chaminade foes 8-3. Goldstein and
Strong cruised to consecutive victories as well.
