Rob Tanner took Most Out
standing Wrestler honors as
Oregon's wrestling team began
its season bv v\inning live indi
vidual championships at the
Southern Oregon Open in Ash
land Saturday.
Tanner, a redshirt freshman
from Tillamook, beat San Fran
cisco State's Jorge Montero, (i-2,
to win the title at 142 pounds
Tim Kitchen, another redshirt
freshman, pinned teammate Pat
Hirai to win at 134 pounds
Kevin Roberts, who is ranked
No. 12 nationally at 1 18 pounds,
won ins class easily, posting a
17-fi victory over Southern Ore
gon State's Chad Thompson in
the i hampionship match. Mat
Sprague (177 pounds) and Jeff
M< Coy (100 pounds) also beat
wrestlers from the host si bool to
win their respective classes
Heavyweight Chris Anderson,
also ranked No 12. notched a
runner-up finish lor the Dm ks
to go along with three third
place finishes.
