I.ast year, the men finished eighth at the national meet, and this year they entered the NC.AAs ranked 15th in the country. The Ducks' top finisher was Tracy Hollister, who finished 59th. Karl Keska took 74th. Kick Cantwell was right behind at 77th. and John Dimoff took, 94th Jason Humble took 124th overall at the meet, and Scott Nicholas finished 179th. Arkansas took the men's title, blowing away the field and fin ishing 120 points ahead of sec ond-place Brigham Young. Pacific-10 Conference foes Washington finished eighth in the team standing*. 80 places ahead of the Ducks. The Port land Pilots also fared well, tak ing 12th in the team standings. 16 places ahead of Oregon. Jenna Carlson ran by far her best race of the season for the women, and probably her career, as she took 23rd overall for Oregon The Ducks' Melody Fairchild, who had established herself as the No. 2 scorer over the last half of the season, set tled in as the third Oregon scor er, taking 71st overall. Oregon sophomore Niamh Zwagerman finished fourth for the Ducks, taking B3rd overall, and Duck Joni Wareham was 127th overall and fifth for Ore gon Oregon's Christie Engesser and Jen Doyle respectively fin ished 170th and 181st overall. The Ducks were the top-fin ishing Pac-10 team in the race.
