    Oregon basketball, wrestling begin next week

ball and volleyball seasons, the winter

The Oregon men's hnskellvill team will
play an exhibition game against the Ham
burg Club at 7:05 p m. on Tuesday Indore
beginning the regular season next l-'ndoy
against Humboldt State at Mt Arthur Oniri
The Ducks feature six new players plus
junior (ordy l.yden, who redshirted last
season. One Duck who will not !*• in action
is Jeff Potter, who is out from four to six
weeks with a elbow injury
The Pacific* 10 Conference media rep
resentatives have not shown much con
fident <■ in the Ducks this son son. The pre
season media poll placed the Ducks in
ninth place, ahead of only Washington.
The media voted California in first place,
followed by UCLA and Arizona
The Oregon women's basketball team
will open the year with an exhibition game
against the Melbourne Raiders on Mon
day. Following one game at home, new
Oregon head com h Jody Runge will take
her team to Hawaii to play in the Paradise
Classic with Hawaii. Loyola Marvmount
and Northern Illinois on November 26- 27.

team, including 6-foot-S-inch center

dence in the Oregon women's team

season this weekend, when it grapples at
the Southern Oregon Open in Ashland on

more respect than the basketball teams
in the preseason, getting pegged 39th in

This season marks Ron Finley's 24th year
as head coach.
Oregon's Kevin Roberts is ranked 12th
in the country at 11H pounds, as is Chris
Anderson at 275 pounds. The only other
Duck ranked in the preseason is 134
pounder Cory Sonnen. ranked 15th

Jensen. James Stephens. Pat Hirai. Dustin
Maddox. Justin Muggy. Peter Stayner. Tom
Glenn. Clint Messner. Mat Sprague and

season vet is the men's tennis team, which
will he in Hawaii next week There the
