Sarcasm pits-out Taylor’s By Jake Berg Oepon CV».v EtrmtM WARNING: Armageddon must bn near or something, because people were actually slam-danc ing at Taylor's College Side Inn lost Saturday night Or maybe it wasn't the end of the world — it was probably just the music of Multiple Sarcasm, who played a fine set of original tunes to a packed Taylor's crowd Technically, you wouldn't even call it slam-dancing After all. there weren't enough guvs hanging around on the floor, and most of those who were had pitchers of beer in their hands It was an odd mix, but Tay lor’s. which usually caters to a mellower roc k t rowd, and Mul tiple Sarcasm have a way of mix ing well, odd or not. And it was a particularly good mix Saturday Multiple Sarcasm started with “Quick to My l ines," a song from the hand's 1901 debut Kf* Four play, as lead singer Jason Deigert roared into his lines and guitarist Ian Crane strutted around the dance floor with his c ordless gui tar. “She told me her name, but I'm Inkin' my time/I have to move slowly 'cause I'm quic k to my lines," Deigert sang, and the crowd responded. The audience, mostly students who likely drank more after real izing that classes were just around the comer come Monday, pushed toward the front with beer in hand, appropriately danc - ing to songs such ns "Drinkin . ' Multiple Sarc asm, who used to play fairly cover-heavy sets, seem to have dropped most of that image. In its place were intel MU PHOtO Multiple Sarcasm played a fine set at Taylor's last Saturday. The band will soon release an album of all-original material. Jake's Corner LOCAL SHOWS ligent, user-friendly originals, and the only covers played were l.ed Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song" and Jimi Hendrix's “Fire." The opening set contained six other songs, including five new originals su< h as "Everything, Evervtime” and 'No Money in Mind " Of the eight songs during tho second set, flv»* new originals were also played, such as "Fl\ mg Blind" and "The Buz/.kill Rap."
