The Trenchcoats' zany "a cappella extraordinaire" style has amused and entertained Northwestemers tor
the past five years.
Trenchcoats ready to amuse folks
Tired ol (he type ot music that reties on synthe
sizers. voice enhancers and special effects to
produce any sort of entertainment worth listen
ing to?
If so. Trenchcoats may be just what you’re looking
for. This Seattle-based group relies solely on the
chemistry of its lour voices ranging from tenor to
bass to produce a sound that can compete with any
of the music industry's top Michael Jackson
wannabes
The Trenchcoats are a high energy, exciting, well
choreographed group, who sometimes add comedy
to their performances. Their list of hits at the West
ern Washington fair induded “Louie, Louie," country
standatd "Elvira," and a little bit ot romance with the
Righteous Brothers’ "You Lost That Loving Feeling "
And for those ol you who still can't get enough
rap, a little Vanilla Ice version of the all-time favorite
•Jingle Bells' was performed. That’s not all, the
Trenchcoats also threw in some amusing choreog
raphy. some slick costumes and, of course, a
George Bush imitation
So if it's diversity in entertainment you want, you
can find it with the Trenchcoats. You won't see any
Mashing lights or smoke bombs, but that doesn’t stop
audiences from giving them rave reviews.
The Trenchoats' performance at an office Christ
mas dinner produced this reaction. "The Trench
coats' light-hearted comedy, combined with their
exceptional music talent, made what has traditional
ly been a cut-and-dry event, an exceptional party
that lasted into the wee hours of the night,” said
Maret Bradshaw of Chevron U S A. Inc.
Central Washington University was also thrilled
with the Trenchcoats.
“I cannot emphasize enough how everyone thor
oughly enjoyed themselves. The response of the
audience was full of compliments and the upmost
praise,” said Gina Gilbert, CWU Performing Arts
Coordinator
The Trenchcoats consist of four witty and charm
ing singers from the Seattle area Joe Mele, tenor;
Doug Wisness, baritone, Kerry Dahlen. bass; and
Jamie Diveney, tenor.
