top marks at meets

The Oregon men’s and women's track and field teams prepared
for this weekend's Pepsi Team Invitational In fuming in some sea
son-best times at the Drake and Penn relays during the weekend.
The men's 4*100- and 4x40()-meter relay teams ear h set season
ti.-st marks The 4x100 team of DeWayne Ingram. LaVon Pierie,
Patrick Khoo and Ronnie Harris finished fifth in the finals at the
Drake Relays in Dos Moines, Iowa, with a time of 40.54
Khoo. Pien e, Harris and Orady O'Connor teamed up to take sixth
ill the 4v4(K) race with a time of 3:00.05.
At the Penn Relavs in Philadelphia, the quartet of Lisa Bedwell.
IjiReina Woods. Kelly Blair and Camara Jones ran Oregon's fastest
time in 12 years in the 4x400 event with a 3:36.49. earning them an
NCAA provisional qualifying mark Unfortunately, with the high cal
iber of teams competing m the e\ ent. the Ducks failed to qualify lor
the finals
Oregon's Julie Beck also got an NCAA provisional qualifying mark
in the disi us with a throw of 107-10 at the Drake Relays Friday.
Duck Ashley Seim an won the javelin in Iowa. Selman. the former
NCAA c hampion in the javelin, has already qualified for die NCAA
championships
The men did not fare as well at the Penn Relay s, finishing eighth
in the 6,000 relay with a time of 15:23.59 and Kith ill the 4x800
meter relay with a time of 7.48.HH.
In the women's 1.200-meter relay at the Drake Relays, the team
of Tyrza Hunt, Lnkn Klein. Jenna Carlson and Nicole Woodward fin
ished fourth with a time of 8:57.56.
The Oregon teams will lie ill action at the Pepsi Team Invitation
al at Havward Field this weekend Washington State, Arizona State
and Kansas State will join Oregon in the final team si oring event of
