Invitational.

Thrower Heath Howington
won the shot put with a 56-1 3/4
throw and placed second in the
discus with a 156-5 throw
Two other former Ducks, Dan
ny Icijm-/. and Brian Wright, also
competed well. Lopez, an
Olympian living hi Eugene, won
the steeplechase in H 40 49. and
Wright took first in the 400 hur
dles in 51.7.

another Eugene Olympian, won
his event on his first throw of
260-to, a meet record.

Livingston finished first in the
decathlon with a personal

third before Oregon State's Tricin Barr tied
the game with a two-run homer.

matches Saturday as the Oregon men's ten
nis team finished a strong second at the Pac
10 Northern Division tournament
Washington won its 11th straight division
title with 51 points. The Ducks Rnished with
2fi points, well ahead of Washington State,
which finished with four.
The Oregon men’s golf team is in fourth
place after the first round of the lfi-team U.S.
Intercollegiate at Stanford. Calif.
Duck Cam Marlin is tied for second, two
shots behind the leader. Oregon is at 295,
eight shots behind first-place California.
Washington is second at 291. and Nevada is
third at 294.

The Oregon women's golf
learn will kick off its postseason
this morning at the Pacific-10
Conference Championships in
Walla Walla. Wash.
The Ducks have had good
showings in the past two confer
ence championships, finishing
fourth in 1001 and coming in
fifth place last year. The Ducks'
fourth-place finish two years ago
was their best ever at the Pac-10
tournament.
The Ducks have finished in
the top five in five of their eight
tournaments this season, includ
ing a second-place finish at the
Nike/Oregon State invitational
last week. Oregon has finished
runner-up in two tournaments
this year and has also taken two
fourth-place finishes and a fifth
place slot,
i.eigh Casey has led the Ducks
this season with a 77.7 average
that includes five top-five fin
ishes. Casey finished second at
the Bruin Classic in the fall and
finished in sixth place last week.
Shannon Maier returns to the
conference tournament after fin
ishing eighth last season. Maier
has a 78.2 stroke average and
was runner-up at the BYU Invi
tational last month.
|unior Cappy Mack is fourth
on the team with a 79.2 average
and is coming off of a 25th-place
finish last week. Mack's best fin
ish of the year was 11th place at
the Stanford Classic this fall
when she shot a season-low 227
for the 54-hole tournament.
A pair of sophomores. Karly
Mills and Shannon Hare, round
out the Oregon roster for the
tournament. Hare just had her
best tournament of the year,
when she finished 10th last
