If the gender equity proposal is passed, it would be penalizing Oregon for the success of its football team. Football uses more scholarships than any oth er sport on campus, but it deserves to because it makes more money than any other sport. Football is a popular and com petitive sport in a difficult con ference, and it should he rewarded for this. Instead, gen der equity would force an already in debt athletic depart ment to pay more hills because of the success of the football team.
