    Blair, Selman lead way
for women at Wazzu
Kelly Blair and Ashley Sel
man continued their impressive
seasons, leading the Oregon
women's track and field team to
an easy 81-55 victory over
Washington State Saturday in
Pullman.
Blair accounted for 20 of the
Ducks' points, taking firsts in
the long jump (20-4 1/2), high
jump (5-8 3/4), 100-ineter hur
dles (13.84) and 400-meter hur
dles (1:00.33), qualifying her for
the Pacific-10 Conference meet
in all four events.
Earlier this season. Blair set a
school record in the heptathlon,
qualifying her for the NCAA
championships.
Selman. a transfer from USC
and former NCAA champion in
the javelin, threw a season-host
r
181-7, loading an Oregon swoop
in tho even). The throw easily
surpassed the NCAA-qualifying
distance of 170-7.
The Ducks dominated the
meet from start to finish, win
ning 12 of 18 events.
Other Oregon winners includ
ed Julie fleck in tho shot put (45
2 1/4). Lisa Bedwell in the 4(H)
(56.39). Camara Jones in the 100
and 200 (11.81, 23.94). Krika
Klein in the 800 (2:14.95). and
both the 400- and 1.600-meter
relay teams (46.95. 3:52 44).
The Ducks will compete .Sat
urday in the Oregon Invitational
and the following weekend in
the Pepsi Team Invitational with
Arizona State, Kansas State and
Washington State Both meets

Rtmge. who played intercollegiate basketball at Kentucky
in the early 1980s. was twice named to the academic all-South
east Conference team. She averaged 9.0 points and .1.7
rebounds per game during her senior season for the Wildcats.
Oregon assistant coaches Stephanie Osborn and Annan Wil
son will remain on contract through June 30, and they are
expected to speak with Kongo regarding positions on the now staff

Cougars bury men with quick start
The Oregon men's track and field team fell
behind early and never regained its footing, as
the Ducks were crushed by Washington State
07-66 Saturday in Pullman
The Cougars swept the hammer, took the top
two places in both the javelin and the long
jump and led 2V* after the throe events Ore
gon won only seven of 1<1 events and was well
behind Washington State the entire meet
The bright spots for the Ducks wore Heath
Howington and Ronnie Harris, who eai h won
