Committee member Zoe Pargot has verbally announced her res ignation and did not attend the meeting. Four of the seven members of the < ommittee must lie present to legally conduct any hearings or business, according to the Inci dental Fee Committee rules. Committee members Ed Car son. Anne Wagoner and Steve Masat attended the hearing and fielded questions from people who questioned some committee members' commitment to serv ing the University. The EMU had its budget hear ing canceled for the third time this year, and EMU staff and hoard members present at the meeting wondered when the committee would finally hear its $18 million budget. "|ust about the whole EMU staff is here for the third time in a row.” said EMU Director Dusty Miller. "We want to field your questions about our budget and get about doing what we have to do." EMU Board of Direr tors Chair man Joe Grube said the commit i think the iFC can get its act together.' — Neil Sunnell, ASUO finance coordinator lee’s recent attendance problems were a strong argument for Uni versity President Myles Brand’s recent proposal to remove the committee from the EMU budget process. ASUO Finance Coordinator Neil Sunnell urged the groups awaiting hearings to be patient and work closely with the com mittee to speed future budget hearings "1 think the 1FC can get its act together," Sunnell said. Committee member Anne Wag oner apologized to the groups whose hearings were canceled and expressed frustration with the absent members. "Members have known we have meetings on Monday and Thursday since January." Wag oner said. "If they're not here, they should be held responsible " Because of the recent hearing cancellations, the committee has fallen behind its schedule and may have to arrange additional meetings to finish allocating bud gets by its May 24 deadline. Masat said. Masat said previous resched uling has forced the the commit tee to hear six or seven budgets during its remaining regular meetings. INTRODUCING!
