Oregon's club hockey game
with Washington Saturday was
televised by KEZJ-TV. The con
test. which ended in a J—1 lie,
marked the first televised game
for Oregon

"Our purpose was to intro
duce the public to the game of
hockey." he said.
The two-hour broadcast Sun
day included explanations and
instructions dealing with the
rules of hockey and how it is
played

in the second period with a
breakaway, short-handed goal

Regulation play ended in « l
1 tie. but be« ause the game was
televised, both teams agreed to a
10-minute sudden-death over
time period. This still was not
enough to determine n winner,
and the game eventually ended
in o 1-1 tie.
The next morning the teams
squared off again in the second
game of the weekend series.
This game ended in a 2-2 tie

as their record reached the 4-4-3
mark.

Injuries
pile up
for Bulls
CHICAGO (AP) The
Chicago Bulls ant fighting
an enemy relatively unfa
miliar to them — injuries.
The two-time NBA
champions find them
selves with starters Bill
Cartwright and John Pax
son out. A number of oth
er players are sporting
bumps. bruises or
swellings, most notably
Michael Jordan's sprained
ankle.
These nagging hurts
come after two seasons
where the Bulls had a
pretty healthy stable for
the charge to the champi
onships.
“We've never been in
this situation before,
where wo had two or three
guys that have lieen down
who are starters and we
had to bring people in,"
coach Phil Jackson said
Monday. "We just go with
what we have to go with
and patch our team up as
w-ell as we can.”
Cartwright has a sore
hat k and tendinitis in the
knee and could come off
the injured list this Fri
day, but he won't, Jackson
said. He added that Pax
son. sidelined with a sore
left knee, also won't be
rushed.
As a result, the Bulls
have had to, in effect, hire
temporary help.
Most recently, they
acquired Ed Nealy in a
trade with Golden State
last Wednesday.
“1 know I'm not going to
come in here and take
anybody's time away from
them," said Nealy. 'Tin
going to have to earn it,
hut hopefully that will
make them work that
much harder to keep their «
time."
Trent Tucker, who shot
9 for 9 in the Bulls' 112-92
win over Atlanta on Satur
day. seems secure.
