scholarships to outstanding
undergraduate students in a
variety of fields.

$1,000 Special Achievement
Scholarship to a student who
has consistently overcome per
sonal hardship and obstacles to
excel academically and in
extracurricular activities.

achievement, excellence, lead
ership and diversity of inter
ests and concerns,” said Gayle
Morris Sweetland, Publisher

Specific qualifications and cri
teria are listed for each award.
The scholarships honor stu
dents demonstrating excellence
in academic and extracurricu
lar activities and who have
genuine financial need.
Except for scholarships
designed specifically to aid
minority or handicapped stu
dents, the awards will be given
without regard to race, gender,
color or creed.
Applications, using the form
at right, along with supporting
documents, must be received
by May 30, 1993.
Winners will be chosen by
American Collegiate Network,
Inc. and will be informed by
August 15, 1993. Winners wiil
be announced in a future issue

and 2) an essay ot no more than 500 words describing your qualifications. Include pertinent
campus and community activities and explanation of financial need. C urrent resume may he
included if available. A small photo may he included it available. All materials must be sent in
one packet.
Applicants mav apph tor more than one scholarship, hut each application must he accom
panied b\ a separate application form and a set ot supporting documents. Photocopies of
supporting documents are acceptable. All applications should he sent together in one enve
lope.

is not available to employees or family members of American Collegiate Network, Inc., or
the sponsoring organizations.

arships as soon as possible, following enrollment tor the tall term. Proof of enrollment will
be required. The scholarships are open to undergraduate students only.
