Late Cardinal rally buries Ducks

The Oregon women’s basketball team stayed
with fourth-ranked Stnnford for 14 minutes on
Saturday night before the (Cardinal pulled awas
from the Du< ks to win the gome ‘11-72 at M( Ar
thur Court.
Stanford led 67-61 when Oregon center Sara
Wilson fouled out with 7 \7 remaining in the
game, and the Cardinal outscored the Dm ks
24-11 during the rest of the contest With both
Wilson and injured 6-foot-4 forward Debbie
Sporcich out, Stnnford pounded the IwlI inside
during the final seven minutes to run away from
the Ducks.
“Once Sara went out. we had no one to match
up with them size-wise," Oregon head coach El
win Heiny said. "They were pushing the ball in
side late in the game, and we had to match them
with 5-foot-10 players."
Oregon, now 0-2 in the conference and 6-5
overall, stayed with the Cardinal throughout the
first half and led by as many as eight points at
