    Syracuse mascot gets $17,000 for dome pummeling
SYRACUSE. N Y. (AP) — A man who
wore an orange wig and an oversized
blue bow yo and raced around ihe Carri
er Dome cheering at Syracuse football
and basketball games has settled a law
suit with the school
Edward Orlick — better known as
"Dome Eddie" — sued Syracuse in the
stale Supremo Court last November,
claiming that the university allowed two
fans to assault him In the dome after a
1989 men's basketball game. Syracuse
owns the dome
Orllck. 48. of Syracuse, was hospital
ized for seven days with a broken right
leg and damaged knee ligaments. The in

official cheerleader.

Orltck said Tuesday that he agreed last
month to an out-of-court settlement for
$17,000 He had sought $600,000
In the lawsuit. Orlick alleged he was
tackled to the domo floor by two un
known fans on Jan 29. 1989, after Syra
cuse boat Providence 100-96.
Orllck's attorney. Robert l.ulim, said
the university had an obligation to pro
tect Orltck because of his status as mas
cot and entertainer.
"People say they miss me." ho said.
