Sandunga will both entertain and educate you. Sandunga, which means ‘‘happiness” in Spanish and some indigenous languages, was formed in Eugene in 19R1 by Armando Morales. Morales, who currently teaches Spanish at the University of Oregon, had two main objectives when he formed the group. "The goals of the group were to promote the music of Latin America and preserve the diverse tradition of music of Latin America," Morales said Morales said he believes that the diversity of music from Latin America has been under mined by the generic term "salsa” that was used to market tropical music in the United States in the late 1970’s.
