Bailor's position Is a half
time appointment with funding
only for this year.
The Task Force for Lesbian,
Gay and Bisexual Concerns,
now a standing committee,
wrote a report in 1990 thut
identified the needs of gay stu
dents on campus, said Domi
nick Vetri. a law professor and
tusk force member last year.
One of the task force’s sugges
tions was the creation of a posi
tion like Balzer's and the ad
r
ministration responded.
Tusk force members believed
thore should be an administra
tive office on campus that dealt
directly with the concerns of
gay. lesbian and bisexual stu
dents and faculty, Vetri said.
"I'm very excited nnd
pleased that the University has
sot out to fill that position," he
said.
Lesbian. Gay, Dlsexual Alli
ance co-director Sarah Ross
said she's met a couple of times
with Balzor Bulzer's position
clears up time for LGBA to
work on things other than refer
rals. Ross said.
"I think (the position! is
great," she said. "I think the
strength of her position is she's
a liaison between students and
LGBA, and administration and
administrative groups ulso
looking Into gay, lesbian and
bisexual concerns.”
