Oregon sweeps meets By Steve Mims Emerald Sports Reporter Oregon's two cross country teams pulled off n weekend swoop, winning moots in Scut tle and Salem. Tho Oregon women won thoir socond straight moot, edg ing out Washington by only nine points to win the Sundodgor Invitational in Soat tlo on Saturday. Oregon placed four runners in the top 10, in cluding senior Nicole Wood ward, who won her second race of tho year. Woodward, who has won tho individual title ut both of tho Ducks' meets this year, covered tho 5.000-metor course in 17.03, almost 10 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Sarah Moweli of Abbottsford, Canada. Woodward won tho Simon Fra ser Invitational last weekend with Q limo ol 17:13. Oregon sophomore Jenna Carlson was the fourth colle giate runner to finish the race, which included six college teams und one Canadian club team. Carlson ran the course in 17:2ft to finish in the top 10 for the second consecutive race. F r o s h m a n Heidi Van Borkulo-Goldstoin was the third Duck to cross the finish lino, coming in at 17:32. Van Borkulo-Goldstein also finished in the top 10 at Ixith Oregon meets this season. Krika Klein, the Ducks' only other senior, finished 10th with a time of 17:42. Her time was 35 seconds faster than last week's, when Klein finished 11th at the Simon Fraser Invita tional. The only other Duck to finish in the top 20 on Saturday was sophomore Jill Calloro, who finished the race in 18:03 for a 19th-place finish Monica Da vidson and Joni Waroham were next for the Ducks, finishing side-by-side in 21st and 22nd place, respectively. Davidson's time was 18:17, one second ahead of Wareham. Also finishing for Oregon were Niumh Zwagorman and Ann Patton with times of 18:29 and 19:23. respectively. Sally Maier, a sophomore from Portland, has decided to rndshlrt this season for the Ducks. Maier. who was expect ed to bo a top runner this year, has missed the opening two meets of the season with a swollen Achillos tendon. The Oregon men's team won the Willamotto Invitational for Its first team title of the season. The Ducks edged out Central Oregon Community College by eight points for the win Oregon fi Uhod with 29 points, and Central Oregon had 37 points. Karl Keska and Tracy Hollis ter, the two runners who fin ished highest for tho Ducks in the Mountain West Classic a week ago, were held out of this week's race by head coach Bill Dellinger. As a result, the Ducks had the chance to see how deep they are, and a few runners took advantage of the opportunity.
