Cultural Forum plans
year of music, art, film

The University’s student-run
Cultural Forum, which spon
sors ubout four or five events a
month from September to June,
kicks off this year with a perfor
mance by two Seattle-based
steel guitarists.
Baby ('.ramps, along with
Walker T. Kynn, will perform
Kuturduv, Oct 3 at 8:30 p.m. at
WOW Hall. Tickets are St> for
University students and $8 for
others and are available at
WOW Hall

out year,
Although music Is always a
big part of the Cultural Forum's
foetus, events in film/video, vis
ual arts, performing arts and
even contemporary issues are
also part of the plan.

"I think throughout the year,
it’s really going to work out,”
ho said. "We have a sharp crow
with some really good ideas.”
Herranen said Cultural Fo
rum members look for "cultural
diversity" in what they present
and try give people something
refreshing and different.
In addition to concerts and
oxhibits, the Cultural Forum or
ganizes Friday’s Beer Carden,
which runs from 4 to 7 p.m. in
the EMU Fountain Court and
features live bands. Frets chips
and salsa will still be offered
from 4 to 5. but Eric Peterson,
regional music coordinator,
said there may lx: fewer Beer
Gardens this year — probably
two or three a month - but they
plan to feature better entertain
ment from more well-known
local bands.
