Washington is the obvious
choice to successfully defend
the conference title, but the gap
has boen closed betwoon the
Huskies and their Pac-10 oppo
nents.
Aftor the Washington comes
a jumbled clump of teams that,
with a timely win here and a
Husky loss there, could de
throne the 'Dawgs and march
into tho Rose Bowl.
The California schools —
Cal, Stanford, USC and UCLA
— will give llie Huskies the big
gest challenges, as could Arizo
na State and possibly Washing
ton State.

On offense, the Huskies are
blessed with not one, hut two
outstanding quarterhucks in ju
nior Billy Joe Hobert and senior
Mark Brunell. James suys that
Hobert is currently the startor,
but both quarterbacks will see
uction throughout the season.
