Duck netters
get Pac-10 win

Oregon's volleyball team
downed Arizona at Tucson
Thursday night, 15-2, 15-13,
13-15, 15-13.
The win was the first for Ore
gon in the Pacific-10 Confer
ence, and the Wildcats re
mained winless in conference
play.
Though the Ducks, 11-4 over
all and 1-2 in the Pacific-10
Conference, were limited to a
.128 hitting mark, they shut
down tiie Arizona offense,
which hit a dismal .031. Ore
gon outblocked the Wildcats 10
to 10.
“Dawnn was our most devas
tating hitter, and though she
had some errors, she put the
hall down regularly and had
some nice blocks for us,” Ore
gon Coach Gerry Gregory said.
"Molly McGrath did a nice
job of running our offense but
also had one of her best nights
blocking. Ali Watkins and
Angee Henderson helped spark
our team off the bench, and
Stephanie Warren had an excel
lent night hitting the ball."
Warren led the Ducks with a
.348 hitting mark and tied
Grotchen Hughes for the team
lead in digs with 10 each. Mc
Grath and Charroin shared the
block load with seven apiece.
For the Ducks, it was their
first conference road victory
since a three-game sweep ut
Washington last October.
"We played neurly perfect in
ime one and basically blocked
them off the court,” Gregory
said. "Games two through four
were marked by incoslstoncy.
In game three, tiiey had u large
lead, 13-8, and we came hack
within one before running out
of steam.
"Game four was much the
same with the roles reversed
They made a charge, hut we
were able to hang on for the
win. We’ll need a smoother
match against Arizona State
Fnday night in Tempo."

missing four weeks due to u

Melissa Ferris and Mary
Palmer led Arizona, 3-9 overall
and 0-3 in the Pac-10, with 13
and 11 kills, respectively.
