COMMUNITY Council to hear proposals By Brian Bloch Emerald Reporter The Eugene City Council will hear information concerning a development proposal calling for the construction of a large office building in downtown Eugene today at 11:30 a.in. in the McNutt Room, Eugene Citv Hall. A Seattle firm. Lorig and As sociates. submitted a proposal on Jan. 3 to build an 80.000- to 100.000-square foot office structure on the corner of Eighth Avenue and Willamette Street. Lorig has also indicated to the city that it would lie willing to build on the corner of Eighth and Olive, depending on the type of parking structure the city would be able to finance and construct. According to an agenda is sued by City Council, two op tions for the parking structure and office building are being considered. In one, the build ing would be constructed on on Willamette Street with a three story parking structure on the remaining portion of the devel opment site. The other option calls for construction of the building on the corner of Eighth and Olive, with parking underground, leaving the rest of the site open for other development by the city. Both options require the city to fund and construct parking facilities. According to the council agenda, city staff is currently evaluating the feasibility and potential costs of both options.
