Ducks bowled over by mistakes in 32-31 loss

those in attendance. Freedom
Howl Yll was one of the most
exciting football games a fan
could see.
But for tlu' Oregon Ducks,
there was too mui h excitement
in the form of costly mistakes
that led to a J2-31 loss to Colo
rado State
The loss left the Ducks at 8-4
for the second straight season
while the Rams finished ti 4 in
their first howl appearance
since l‘)48
"We gave you an exi iting
football game, by golly ex
citement, dropped balls, penal
ties, mistakes." Oregon Coach
Rich Brooks said "You have to
give Colorado State a lot of
credit. They're a hard-nosed
football team.
"They hung in there and
took advantage of almost every
one of our mistakes that we
gave them the opportunity to
take advantage of," he said
"Unfortunately, we played. I
think, very uncharacteristically
of the way we played most of
they year.”
The only thing not uncharac
teristic about the Ducks was the
play of quarterback Bill Mus
grave who may have played his
best game in an Oregon uni
