Two Duck wrestlers
take individual titles
Despite missing two-time all
A merit an Dan Vidlak. the On*
gun wrestling team was able to
plate sixth at the Mat Town
Open wrestling tournament last
weekend in I.oi k Haven. 1’a
The Ducks scored 73 points
despite not entering anyone in
two weight t lasses, int hiding
the ItH-pound class where
Vidlak was sidelined with a
knee injury.
Penn State won the team title
with lit) points while Syracuse
was second with 920 points
Rider, North Carolina State and
Hut knell rounded out the top
five
Oregon got several outstand
ing individual efforts to help
offset the loss of Vidlak. Partic
ularly helpful were Siott Glenn
and Curt Strnhni. who each
won ihcir respective weight
classes.
Glenn had five victories to
win the 142-pound title over
Tim Tothka of Drexel Glenn
defeated Tothka 5-3 in the
championship mate h.
Strahm won the 190-pound
weight class with .1 12-H deci
sion over Brian Burns of Buck
nell
Heavyweight Gam Strahm
finished second, dropping his
title match 11-0 to Sylvester
Turkey of North Carolina State
Oregon teammate Kob Stone
finished fourth in the 134
pound weight class.
Oregon returns to action this
weekend when it travels to has
Vegas for the I .as Vegas Invita
tional tournament.
