Costume contests abound in Eugene
There are some good prizes available in
costume contests this Halloween The
categories vary, but if you can put a good
costume together and wear it with style and fl
nesse you might be able to walk away with
some great prizes
Contest judging is done at different times at
most of the clubs, so if you time it right you
may be able to enter more than one contest,
• WOW Hall, 291 W, 8th Ave , 687-2746 Contest
for dressing as your favorite Transister. This is
Transfer's last gig, and Transister memorabil
ia will be given away during the evening,
• Good Times Cale and Bar. 375 E 7th Ave ,
484-7181. For the costume contest, first prize is
$50 and two free lunches or free cover for six
months; second prize is $30 and two free lunch
e$; and third prize is $20 and two free lunches
• Hilton Ballroom. 66 E 6th Ave , 342 2000 An
nual contest with a grand prize of a round trip

Local clubs getting into
true spirit of Halloween
Halloween offers a good mix of events this year If
you're feeling creative you can carve a pumpkin, if
you feel like dancing, there's lots of good music
and events happening for those over and under 21
The following is a partial list of events and musical en
tertainment for Halloween night
• New Max's Tavern, 550 E, 13th Ave (21 and over) A pump
kin carving contest will begin at 6 p m and customers will
judge the contest Winning pumpkin carver will receive a
case of beer Halloween party with Sister Double Happi
ness and 3D Picnic, begins at 9:30 p m Cover charge is $4
• WOW Hall, 291 W 8th Ave Transistor will perform Its
high energy dance music for WOW's annual Halloween
bash Music begins at 9 30 p m This will be the band's Iasi
performance
• Good Times Cafe and Bar, 375 E 7th Ave (21 and over)
Party with Sue Miles & Slow Bum 9:30 p m Cover charge is

• Pegasus Smokehouse Pizza, 790 E 14th Ave Pumpkin
carving contest winners will be announced Music in the
basement (which is 21 and over)
• The Butte Tavern, 211 Washington St (21 and over) Hal
loween blues jam from 9 p m to 2 30 a m
• Hilton Ballroom. 66 E 6th Ave (21 and over) The ninth an
nual Hilton Halloween party with The Valley Boys Cover

and over) Springfield Halloween bash sponsored by the
Mill Camp and KLCX radio station. Music and good drink

musician Larry Norman brings his prosence to Eugene
Opening for Norman is the Brethren blues band. Concert
