fired a 306 while Oklahoma
was next at 310 followed by
host Washington which record
ed a 319.
While Wooding paced the in
dividual competition. Oklaho
ma had three golfers tied for
second with Heth Brown. Kllen
Mielke and Alyoya Kumhin all
carding 76s, Stanford's Jodi
Kigley was also tied for second
Schools from around the
west coast and elsewhere are
competing in the three-day
tournament which continues
today and will conclude on
Wednesday. Several other
schools in the tournament in
c lode Kansas. Brigham Young.
Hawaii. long Beach State, and
New Mexico.
Ducks fall out
of Top 25 poll
Oregon’s footl>all team
dropped out of the Associated
Press Top 25 poll on Monday,
following a 38-17 loss to Wash
ington last Saturday.
The Ducks were ranked 19th
going into the game against
Washington who was ranked
17th. The Huskies moved up to
the No. 13 spot but Oregon fell
out of the poll to the 27th spot
with 83 votes. The Ducks
would have needed 33 more
votes to tie Texas ASM for the
25th slot
Virginia takes over the No. 1
spot this week after Michigan,
the previous No. 1, fell to
cross-state rival Michigan
State. The Cavaliers were
ranked No. 2 last week.
Virginia and Georgia Tech,
which jumped up from No. 18
to No. 11. are on a collision
course to meet for the Atlantic
Coast Conference champion
ship. a game that looks like it
could decide the national
championship, or have major
bearings on this year’s No. 1
team.
