Burwell runs into spotlight

That doesn't mean to say that
Hurwell doesn't have a great
deal of respect for the Ducks'
all-time leading rusher and
scorer, but with Ixrville now
playing for the Seattle Sea

wasn't anything like that.
"We have no real pressure
except to learn the offense.-’ he
said "No one really said any
thing about pressure except the
people interviewing me and
wanting to know if I could try
and replace Loville."
"It's funny about replacing
Loville because I don't think
about that." Burwell said "I
think more of the team and
what we re trying to do."
Burwell has been a major

Oregon is off to a 3-1 start
and ranked 22nd in the latest
Associated Press Top 25 poll

has been the leading rusher and
scorer for the Ducks as well a>
an outstanding receiver out ot
the haekficld in the first four
games.
Harwell has already rushed
for 3-15 yards and four touch
downs and caught eight passes
for 8*1 yards and another score
He is third in the Pacific-10
Conference in rushing and tied
for fifth in scoring.
He's done all that after an in
auspicious debut against San
Diego State where he rushed
for 38 yards on 12 carries.
Since then, he has gained 12ti
yards against Idaho. 77 yards
on 1!) rushes against Arizona
and, last week, 10-1 yards
against BYU.
Running inside is one thing
Loville was always good at and
Coach Rich Hrooks said that al
though Hurwell has a long way
to go in that area, he has vastly
improved since the season
opener.
"Certainly he's trying to l>e
come a tougher, hard-nosed in
aside runner which Derek
Loville was tremendous at.” he
said, "and he has made great
strides in that since the San Di
ego State game where he was
running up in there a little too
