Oregon Jazz Quartet will open
its 1990-91 Faculty Artist Se
ries season at 8 p.m. in Beall
Concert Hall. 961 E. 18th. The
quartet features Steve Owen on
.saxophone. Edward Kammerer
on keyboards. Charles Dowd on
drums and Forrest Moyer, bass.
Tickets, available at the door,
are $2 general and $1 students.
First Monday Coffee House be
gins at 7 p.m. in the skylight
area of the EMU. The Coffee
House features an open stage
for local acoustic musicians,
and anyone interested in per
forming can sign up the day of
the event by calling 346-4373.
All performers will play for 15
minutes or play three songs,
whichever is first.
Wednesday. Oct. 3
American Indian Dance
Theatre will perform at 8 p.m.
in the Hult Center’s Silva Con
cert Hall. As part of the Hult
Center’s World Dance Series,
this troupe has captured and
preserved their cultural heri
tage through performance.
Tickets are $15, $12.50 and
$10. with a $4 discount on stu
dent tickets while they last.
VISUAL ARTS
Friday. Sept. 28
Blue Tarp Installations, a solo
show of nine sight-specific
works by Eugene artist Mike
Walsh, will open in the EMU
Gallery. The large-scale works
combine standard blue tarps
with plexiglass boxes contain
ing constructed and appropriat
ed objects. A reception will be
held tonight from 6-8 and the
exhibit will continue through
October 12.
Sunday. Sept. 30
Pets and People, a comprehen
sive exhibit encompassing
many aspects of animals and
veterinary medicine, will have
its grand opening at Willamette
Science and Technology Center
(W1STEC), 2300 Centennial,
from 12-5 p.m. The grand
opening theme is "A Day on
the Farm" and will feature
pony rides and a petting zoo, to
name a few. The exhibit will
continue through November 4.
Admission is $3 adults. $2.50
seniors and students.
